The Glass
Fire Guard Company made and installed the spectacular
"floating flame" fires at
Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester,
designed by renowned architect Sanjit Manku of
Jouin + Manku
in Paris.
Working from the
architect's drawings, we developed an engineered
solution that delivered the architect's concept.
For the fire back
and supports for the glass and fire gel burner, we
sourced aviation grade aluminium from Austria, which was
laser cut, machined and polished by a specialised West
Midlands engineering firm. The gel burners
themselves were milled from a solid block of mild steel
then chemically blacked.
The results,
pictured in the private dining Salon Park Lane, are
shown below. |
